Different Types of Limos – What Kinds of Limos Are Available To Rent?
While there may be a certain image that comes to mind when you hear the word “limo,” there are actually many different types of limos.
It’s important to seriously consider which type you choose as this will largely depend on things such as how many people will be in the limo, and what event you’re using the limo for. And of course, you’re hiring a limo service to make a certain impression; the right type of limousine will help you do that.
Types of Limos #1 – Luxury Sedans
One type of vehicle that limousine services have for hire is luxury sedans, often called the Lincoln Town Car. These cars aren’t the traditional limousine or stretch limousine that you might often think of when you consider limousines, but they’re just the thing for certain occasions.
These cars are often used for transportation to and from hotels and airports, and they’re perfect for corporate executives.
Luxury sedans aren’t really considered “official limousines” but they do have amenities like flip-down and flat-screen TVs. These vehicles also come with a chauffeur but they don’t have the partition separating the driver from the passengers. Luxury sedan limousines usually hold about 3 – 4 passengers.
Luxury Cars As Types of Limos
The luxury car is another type of vehicle that while it may not be a limousine per se, is a type of car that will be available from a limousine service. These types of limos/cars are great for things such as weddings, anniversary parties, and graduations. They seat about 3 – 4 passengers and they may come with or without a chauffeur. This is because often, the real thrill of renting one of these is driving it!
Ferraris or Porsches may be rented, just so someone can show off and experience what it’s like for an hour or two; or other luxury vehicles such as a Rolls Royce can be hired when you want the luxury of the vehicle and a driver.
Types of Limos #2 – Luxury SUV’s
Luxury SUVs are another type of limousine though, while it may not be traditional, is considered to be an “official limousine.” These limousines are just like typical SUVs, except they are much larger so that they can pack all kinds of modern amenities into them – and there are a lot!
These SUVs are perfect for fun outings out with friends as they are equipped with flat-screen TVs, DVD players, mini-bars and neon lighting. They’re also usually decked out with a full leather interior that is often two-toned so you can feel even more posh!
These SUVs also come with a chauffeur, and unlike the Town Car, they do have a partition that can be raised or lowered. Even though these SUVs are huge, keep in mind that one reason for that is so that all the luxuries can be crammed in there; because of that these SUVs usually only seat about 5 passengers.
Types of Limos #3 – Stretch Limousines
The stretch limousine is one of the types of limos that most people imagine when they envision a limo. It’s also this type of limousine that is most often reserved for things like weddings, proms, and bachelor and bachelorette parties.
These types of limos are most popular because they give off the impression of luxury that people are looking for when they think of a limousine, and because they offer most of the amenities that you could ever hope to have in a limousine. These amenities include things like DVD players, a full bar, fiber optic lighting, sunroofs, flat-screen TVs, and even mirrored stargazer ceilings. Another reason stretch limousines are so popular is because they seat a lot of passengers, usually about 10 – 12.
Types of Limos #4 – Stretch Hummers
While the stretch limousine used to be considered “the limo of all limos,” it has been replaced with the Hummer limousine, which now holds that title. These massive machines look just like the Hummer SUV, but the boxy look stretches even longer than the stretch limo. These types of limos give off the ultimate feeling of luxury because they are relatively new to the market compared to other types of limousines and because they’re just so big.
Aside from that, Hummer limousines will also come with any (and we mean any) amenity you could want in your Hummer. Inside these beasts you’ll find not one but two or more flat-screen TVs, DVD players, Sony Playstations, ice chests, full bar, laser lights, and often even a smoke machine! These vehicles also seat about 16 passengers, so there’s plenty of elbow room to go around!
